AMPkids

The AMPkids track offers volunteers the opportunity to work as camp counselors to youth living in impoverished communities. The neighborhood youth participate in a summer-long camp that focuses on literacy improvement, team-building, and healthy recreational activities.

You will have an opportunity to work as visiting camp counselors with Mission: St. Louis staff, resident camp counselors, and college interns. Our camp is provided free of charge all summer to 15-25 youth campers from an under-resourced community. You will help provide a camp experience for children who would normally be unable to attend a camp charging even a nominal fee. The goal of AMPkids is to provide healthy recreational and educational opportunities in the summer. AMP also serves as a forum for community collaboration and development. Throughout the summer, you will help introduce the campers to neighborhood organizations, which provide cultural, gardening, nutritional, and educational opportunities. Campers will also develop and execute their own community development project with your help.
