Jobs for Life
The mission of Jobs for Life is to equip St. Louis City men with life skills and help prepare them for careers.
As of March 2011 in St. Louis, there are more than 130,000 unemployed people. Through Jobs for Life, we assist men who have the desire to gain life skills and are willing to work become equipped for a career. We use an interactive, biblically-based curriculum designed as an 8 week/16 session training course. Students are encouraged to take ownership of what they learn through class instruction and discussions, small groups, one-on-one mentorships, individual study, and business and community involvement.
Training
The training couples timeless principles from the stories of people in the Bible with basic job readiness skills. The goal of the class is to show how these principles, if applied in one's life, lead to success in the workplace and in life.
Community of Support
Every student is provided a mentor who is an individual committed to helping the student succeed. In addition, other volunteers engage with the class to create a unique environment of community during the training. Through this support system, students are connected to resources previously unavailable to them and provided with enduring friendships they can access over a lifetime.
Student Internships
Student internships provide students with hands on skills, the opportunity to apply the techniques they learn in class to the work place, and gives them a source of income empowering them to provide for some of their own needs (e.g. bus passes, phone bills, groceries, etc.).
