Adams Elementary

In the fall of 2006, Mission: St. Louis held its first school supply drive. During the drive, founder Josh Wilson explained to the then-president of Adams Elementary, Mrs. Stegall, that he wanted to serve the school but had no idea where to start. The answer: kids couldn't read. And so began our involvement in the St. Louis public school system and our interest in their literacy. The 2011-2012 school year will be our fourth year facilitating Morning Reading at Adams and our kids show yearly improvement. With such success, other programs naturally followed. Mission: St. Louis started Adopt-A-Classroom; there is now a volunteer for each teacher at Adams. In 2010, we threw our fist back to school bash. Roughly 300 people from the surrounding neighborhood came out and participated in the event. As a growing organization, we will always hold Adams - and our start there - near to our heart.
