Ms. LW’s Home Repair Story

Ms. LW, a long-term resident of North St. Louis has always had a deep passion for serving the community. She has long been an advocate for her home and neighborhood. As a now retired Parent Specialist from Adams Elementary, our earliest school where we at Mission: St. Louis provided support to students, Ms. LW has been involved with us for years. She has stayed connected, volunteering at our Affordable Christmas event and continuing to show her commitment to the community.  

When the home Ms. LW has resided in for the past 29 years started showing signs of aging, it was clear that repairs were needed. From broken appliances to loose cords to unstable steps and missing safety measures, her home, a place of refuge, now presented safety concerns that made daily living conditions difficult. 

Our Minor Home Repair team was able to provide her with these essential home repairs. This ranged from installing grab bars and motion-sensor night lights to replacing faulty faucets, installing Smoke/CO detectors, ceiling fixtures and weather stripping. These home modifications made all the difference for Ms. LW and provided her with a renewed sense of safety and dignity while navigating her home.
