HOME IS MORE THAN A PLACE.

Give the gift of home this holiday season

There is a reason people say, “I feel at home here.” Home is a place that makes you feel safe and at peace. Homes keep some of your best memories. Home is stability, it is a place to begin again, to move forward.

We recognize homes look different for everyone and we strive to help create this feeling of warmth in the homes of those in our city.

We encourage you to help us turn houses into homes this holiday season.

HOME IS WHERE YOU BELONG

WHY YOUR GIFT MATTERS

IN 2021…

Home is peace

Legal counsel removes barriers - opening a world of opportunity. Having a legal advocate impacts housing, brings families together and provides relief.

Home is comfort

“To me, home means a place I feel comfortable at and can trust the people around me and let’s me do what (I want) and help me and family.” - 4th Grade Beyond School Student

Home is safety

Minor home repairs have a major impact on the lives of our older adults. It allows them to stay in the homes they love, and continue to create memories.

Homes are reminders…

Home is more than a place. Homes are reminders.

Ms. Linda’s son was shot and killed on her front porch in the spring. The bullets left holes in her front door and the bricks outside her living room.

For months, the outside of her home served as a constant reminder of that terrible day.

Over the summer, through an “act of God” as Ms. Linda described it, Mission: St. Louis’ Minor Home Repair team fully replaced her front doors - removing the bullet holes that reminded her of her loss.

“My son got shot in April and every time I’d come in I’d see the bullet holes and I’d remember. Them coming to fix the doors took some of that away.”

Some fragments remain in the bricks outside her home and no repairs will stop her from mourning her loss, but her new front door gives her a sense of peace. It is more than fresh paint and shiny new hinges, it is a chance for her to look at her home and remember the family that lived in it.
