Our City. Our Summer: Part One

We’re making and anticipating plans as another summer offers St. Louis a more than warm welcome. Need advice on things to do in the city during the next few months? Want to reminisce on summer traditions with friends and family? Hosting any guests and need tourism tips? Check out what some of us are planning for Summer ’16!

Katie is tallying up her attendance count at a Secret Sister concert. The concert, which will be Katie’s fourth time seeing the band, will be at the Duck Room on July 8.

Joy is ready to brainstorm ideas with the team during our annual staff retreat! Last year’s retreat was held at Fugitive Beach.

Jasmin is ready to join the Beyhive as she waits for Beyonce’s return to the city for her Formation Tour. This will be Jasmin’s second time seeing Beyonce live. And, yes, she will have a front row view with floor seating.

Monica’s summer started early this year after seeing local band Sleepy Kitty in concert. They performed right outside in The Grove at this year’s Riverfront Times Music Showcase on June 10.

Kayla gathered her crew for a road trip to Atlanta, Georgia in June. She, along with other leaders at her church, treated their interns to a trip to visit Passion City Church and hear Pastor Louie Giglio speak.

This June, Forest Park hosted another year of Shakespeare at the Park, where Amber spent 2 of her summer nights watching “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

Still looking for ideas? Here's a list of places you can visit during the summer:

Here are things you can do with us this summer to help transform lives in our city:

Beyond Jobs - Our Summer session has begun, but you can still help out by providing meals. Please contact Jasmin at jasmin.johnson@missionstl.org

You can also apply to be a volunteer for our Fall session that starts in September. Contact Amy at amy.primm@missionstl.org for more information and to apply.

Beyond School - You can empower more students to get on track for high school and beyond. Our Beyond School program is in need of volunteers throughout the week to tutor and mentor students. You can serve at least once a week on Monday-Thursday from 4:00pm-6:00pm at St. Louis College Prep. Contact Kayla at kayla.colona@missionstl.org for more information.
